The University of Guam will be hosting a public forum for 34th Legislation candidates at its lecture hall. The topic will be about their thoughts and propositions for the upcoming 2020 military buildup on Guam. This event will be open to the general public. There will be a $5 fee for entry. Governor Eddie Calvo will be holding a State of the Island (SOTI) Address on Wednesday, August 31st at 6 p.m. at the Governor's Complex near the Latte of Freedom. Among the topics that will be covered include the current financial statuses of GMHA and GRMC, the military buildup, tourism, and more. This event is open to the general public. 20th Annual Coastal Cleanup
Every year Guam participates in the International Coastal Cleanup organized by the Ocean Conservancy. The cleanup will be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2016. Families and groups of all ages are encouraged to attend. Coastal Cleanup is the largest volunteer event in Guam. The cleanup is organized by the Guam Coastal Management Program of the Bureau of Statistics and Plans.
